Current Commitments
The current roster of commitments is at 54. We are going to lock in at 60 and then build our waiting list from there and assess the opportunity to expand to 64 if necessary.
Tee Times for Arrival/Departure Planning
The resort has committed to shotgun each round, Friday – 12 noon, Saturday – 8:30am and 1:30pm, Sunday – 8:30am. We need to be ready and loaded 30 minutes before each round. Take these times into account as you begin to plan arrival and departure times. Plan on arriving at the Resort on Thursday evening to be safe.
Tourney Gear Fees
With some advance planning and creative comps from the resort, we are hoping to minimize the tournament fees for this year. They have been $125 since I can remember and I’m currently targeting $75, pending final information on gear and the comp package from the resort. Once we finalize financials and as we always have, we’ll provide a full accounting prior to the event or shortly after.
Charitable Cause Recommendations and Selection
Now that we’re finalizing our plans for the year, we are happy to consider charitable causes to support this year. I know there have been many put forth and we welcome submissions once more. As always, any charitable contribution is entirely voluntary without any requirement or pre-set goals. For those choosing to, it’s simply a way to give back to something near and dear to someone in our Queso community. Bring on the recommendations!
Early/Late Departure
No special rates for early arrival or late departure – recommend we find something else nearby if you need it.

2022 Queso Cup Results - Team Lambert Regains the Cup
2022 Queso Cup Results - Team Lambert Regains the Cup
Against all odds and in spite of their captain's recurring pull, snap, duck hook, Team Lambert was able to wrestle the Queso Cup back from Team Masley at the 2022 Queso Cup at Southern Pines. Matching Team Masley's narrow one point victory in 2021, Team Lambert took the Cup with a strong Sunday comeback and a final score of 22 1/2 to 21 1/2.
Once again, the event results essentially came down to the valuable 2 points awarded as part of the Saturday afternoon scramble event. After halving the low individual team point with each team posting a low group of -9 on the fabulous Mid-Pines Course, Team Lambert was able to eek out a -36 to -35 victory for the low aggregate point - ultimately the difference in the final result.
The Team Lambert victory once again evens the Masley v. Lambert head-to-head team matchup at 7 victories each (since adoption of the Ryder Cup format back in 2009.)
Thanks to all of this years invitees for making The Queso Cup a special event for the 21st straight year. The Queso Cup Management Committee will be providing you details on plans for the 2023 Queso Cup in the very near future.
